What happened in the sunshine state sure put a big dark cloud over it for a whole lot of folks. HOW in gods name can some people go in and VOTE and come back later and say ( I punched the wrong hole I wanted to vote for Gore but voted for preacher man instead)? Now if you are a dummy and can't follow a straight line to a hole to punch out then you should not try to vote without help. What burns me is how do these people know they made a mistake in the first place. If you can't understand the ballot card ask somebody to explain it to you. I myself wouldn't get on television in front of millions of people and say that I didn't understand the ballot card but went ahead and punched some holes anyway. It is my opinion that some of the people that said they were to dumb to know what they were doing were paid to act stupid. I could go on and on about these IDIOT'S but I won't. The courts are another matter that gets me hot, how does a high court try to change the laws in midstream while the ( so called recount ) is going on, and then another court has to see if the first one knows what they were doing or just sleeping and who looks at the second court. If you ask me I think pockets were padded on both sides. I think FLORIDA got all the attention they wanted and more. Why have different ballot cards for some counties? Why not have the same ones for the whole state. What was Jessie Jackson doing down in Florida shooting off his mouth about subjects he knows nothing about or can't change anyway. I BELIEVE EACH VOTE SHOULD BE COUNTED AND THE POLLS SHOULD HAVE A SAMPLE BALLOT CARD FOR ONE'S THAT DON'T OR CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO PUT THE LITTLE PIN IN FRONT OF THE NAME AND PUSH UNTIL YOU HIT THE TOP. Well enough said about that, there are many many points I haven't touched but the whole thing is so stupid it's enough to make you sick, and not even vote because you'll never know if your vote was counted or thrown in the trash because somebody didn't like the way your card looked. THINK ABOUT IT...

VIET NAM If what I am going to include here about VIET NAM gets you hot or if your from this country then don't read this go read a book.

Our very own Uncle Sam wanted me to spend some time in VIET NAM all expenses paid. It was in the years 1968 and 1969 and from what I hear two of the most dangerous years to be in that country. I like many others wondered what our country was doing over there. I don't know what made Uncle Sam think we could change things and not get anyone killed. There has been several different countries go to V. N. and France was one of them. This was a learning transition for them also as they lost many live's and all for nothing as they pulled out and turned tail and run. This is what the U. S. did but not before way to many lives were lost. When we pulled out and turned our tail and run we left behind millions and millions of dollars worth of war material, everything from jet airplanes to some of the top secret stuff ( we're not suppose to know about this, don't tell anybody). In my tour in V. N. in some of the towns (the major bases) had junk yards, in these junk yards were what was use to be trucks, jeeps, tanks, helicopters, air planes and anything that was unusable.

I don't know when we were to haul this stuff out but it was in long rows about two or three stories high and as far as you could see. This junk was hauled out of the fire zones when they could get in by giant helicopters they call flying cranes. They would haul this junk out of the jungle or rice patties and dump it in the pile, in short the U S A went off and left near billions of dollars of good stuff that was in working order and also near millions of dollars in scrap metal that might have recovered a little of the money that was wasted on that place. You the taxpayer will still be paying on that till the day you and your children pass away. No one will ever know how much money was wasted over there and then walk away. Years ago around the time we stuck our nose where it didn't belong a certain senator named Berry Goldwater said if he was president of this country he would drop two bombs on V N and that would end the whole mess right then and there. He wasn't and we didn't so that ended that. In short we shouldn't have been in that place if we were going to pull out just because little charlie was kicking our butt all over the place. We were told that we were there to fight and stop commies from taking over south VIET NAM , boy was that a big joke. It is my opinion that a few hundred handful's of people made lots of money off the war and I THINK ------ B JOHNSON was one of them. KENNEDY got in the way of JOHNSON being the big man so they got rid of him. Now that's another story and I might sound off about that later. I don't believe we should have gone over the ocean to die for people that didn't care for there own country. I have been there and watched some of the army of so V N get up and run when being fired on. Now don't get me wrong not everybody ran away. I could go on and on about this but its not worth the brain matter. I will never forgive the people who wasted all the lives and left so many without arms or legs or eyes, and for the ones we left behind in that place.

NEW CARS

The thing that burns me up is when you buy a car either new or used is what happens when you go to pay for it. First you have to pay tax because you had enough money in the first place to buy a car. Then to get the title in your name that cost you money for the transfer. To make it legal for the road you have to put a piece of tin with letters and numbers on the car and you don't get to pick the ones you want unless you pay more money for a special plate. Now when you get your new car you have to buy insurance in case you dent someone's fender ( I forgot cars don't have fenders anymore ). Now that you have paid out all this money you have to put gas in it in order for it to run, you will pay more tax for this. So when you get your car if you didn't pay cash for it you will have payments to make, some loans are either 3 or 4 years and 5 on some. Think about it, the car is almost wore out before it's paid for. They have got you and they have got you good. At one time a guy could work on his own car and save money doing it.Today you cannot get your hand between the motor and the firewall and they have added so much stuff on it you don't know where to start. Cars are programed to last for so long and then start having trouble. They have it fixed so you have to have special tools to try to fix it, and on my truck you can't even see the spark plugs much less try to change them. You might have heard this before but they don't make them like they used to.

I know I can't change anything by complaining but this kind of stuff just burns me up. Another thing is cars these days are made of plastic and some don't even have bumpers so if you get hit by someone in the rear look out. Some cars have plastic radiators and fans to keep the motor cool. Some radiators are aluminum and if you put in the wrong antifreeze it will eat holes in it. I could go on and on about cars but mabey by now you get what I am trying to say. When it cost around 5 to 7 thousand to build a car and it cost you around 20 thousand then somethings wrong. Cars today look good but if you would see them built you wouldn't even get in one.

For millions of people today is their birthday. For some people viewing this page today is their birthday. As you know birthdays start out when your born. Do you remember some of the birthdays you had as a child? You just couldn't wait because you knew mother and father would have ice cream and cake for you and your friends and they would have presents for you to open. As you started getting older the parties started slacking off and so did the presents, because gifts for an older kid cost more money such as

$ 120. OO tennis shoes with some guy's picture on the shoe or cars boats and bikes. I 'm getting away from what this is about, sorry I get carried away sometime. Birthdays are very nice when your young and you look forward to the next one coming. This thing about wanting to be older gets stuck on everybody because mom and dad will let you stay out with your friends later and you get to do lots of really cool things. Before you know what's going on your out of school and looking for a job and can't wait for the weekend to get here so you can go party and stay out as late as you want to and it's OK because your older. That part of your life zooms by and now you find a girl and you date for a speck of time and your married and got three kids. This all in a blink of your eye and you sit back one day and wonder how your life has went to so fast, why seems like yesterday I was going out to parties and hanging out. The sad part of this getting older is as you get older so does members of your family and some of them will depart this life. You sit down and look at the kids playing on the floor, those are your grandchildren. It seems only yesterday your own kids were playing on that floor and you wonder how can life go by so fast. You look in the mirror at the gray and thinning hair and wonder what happened to the cold black hair the girls you dated would run their fingers in. Now your grand kids have kids and you wonder how life can go by so fast. The birthdays you once looked forward to coming you don't want to see. Life has many sad events and you loose many family members and friends and you wonder where time has gone to. Birthdays are a two sided coin, one side is fun and happy and the other side is sad and final. The sad thing is that your family members will remember the date of your passing until they pass away. I wish we could all live forever and never leave the people we love. Birthdays who needs them?

Gasoline

Before I even get started let me say that this Burns me up.

I've been driving for quite a few years and like many others have seen the price of gas rise. When I got my first car in 1960 a 1951 Chevy 2 door, standard shift, straight six cylinder the price of gas back then was 19.9 cents a gallon. I can remember getting gas and filling the tank for around 3 bucks and getting 5 packs of smokes for a buck. A lot of things have changed and so have the people. I can understand any company making a profit. This is my opinion but I am sure some of you will agree that the American people are being taken for a ride and our Government is much to blame, but in a way so are we. If you could get people to stick up for their rights and be firm and not back down then maybe we could get some things to go our way for a change, now I know this will never happen but if you could get the whole country to boycott buying gas for some time then maybe we could wake a few people up and get the price lowered. It all boils down to the Government getting a kickback from the oil companies. They blame the rise in price to the refineries that they can't keep up with the demand, and that we need to build more in order to level off. Then a few years back it was the oil shortage that was a big lie when they had so many oil tankers waiting to off load just sitting in the harbors. In our state the price of gas at a cheap station $1.59.9 cents a gallon and you can cross the Ohio River into Kentucky and it's $ 1.31.9 cents a gallon. How can one place sell that much higher than the other one, I think the Government needs to step in and tell the oil companies that they can charge up to so much and no higher because if they don't where is the price going to stop. In our paper a month ago it said that the price this summer could get up to $3.00 a gallon. I can tell you right now that I will not pay that price. I'll grow my own food and if the neighbors go to town then they can pick up what I need. The thing is I don't think my neighbor will pay that price either so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I could go no about this but think I got my point across that the ride we're on is one I don't like and when you pull up to the pump and the price is $3.00 a half gallon then you will think the ride your on is one you don't like.
