Our Nation's Flag
The content of this page is Dedsie's opinion.

This Flag of ours has been fought over and about ever since it was made, many lives have been lost to have the freedom to fly our Flag.  There was a time that fathers, sons, women and even boys gave their lives for our Flag.

Americans have been in many countries defending the rights of others, our Flag was there.  Our Flag fly's in countries all over the world.  Our nation will permit people from other countries to come and live in freedom.
Our Flag, does it still  have the same respect that it once did ? no is the answer to that.  I can remember when I was a kid and in school that when school was over someone would come and take the Flag down from the Flagpole and take it inside.  Banks at one time had a Flag in front and at closing time would take down the flag, that was in the past when people had respect for the Flag.
Today you can see Flags torn and tattered , and so faded you don't know if it a flag or not.  I wonder why these people don't take down the Flag, are they to lazy, don't care, or not a requirement of their duties.
A little while back some idiots had an exhibition and one of them was a United States Flag on the floor and the thing was you were to walk on the Flag to see the photo on the wall. The police took the Flag, the idiots took it to the supreme court, the court said they could have the Flag on the floor and said it was their right to free speech.
I don't call that free speech I call that desecrating our Flag.  I won't say what those idiots really are because I'm not allowed to, the court needs to back up and regroup.
My wife and I were sitting at the table and talking about this guy that went to England to avoid the draft ( Vietnam ) and while he was there he was at a rally where they stomped on and spit on  and then set our Flag on fire, we all know this guy and  he was in trouble the whole 8 years he was in office, lots of women said he wasn't such a good guy and then there's Monica but that's another story.
I'm not saying he struck the match but he should have left and went elsewhere and not have been in the crowd, but as luck would have it his face was in the photo taken by some news people.  If he had respect for the Flag of his Nation he would have left.
I like many thousands of Americans went to Vietnam and thank God I made it back alive, but many  were not as lucky and gave their life for freedom and to think some people step , spit, and burn our Flag in the countries where we went to help.

There was a time not to long ago that some idiots wanted the pledge of allegiance banned from our schools because there was students from other counties in the school and it wouldn't be fair for them to have to pledge to our Flag, in my opinion if you live in this country then it's your duty to pledge allegiance to our Flag and our Nation.
I know that the Flag is just cotton or nylon and some color but it's what it stands for that make it special It's our Nations Flag and it stands for freedom for one and all.
We open our doors in this land to millions of people and most of them are glad to live where you can own a car, house, land and even own a business and come and go as you please with no border guards at the state line.
Some of the people we let in our country are here to start trouble like hijacking aircraft, blowing up buildings and killing people.  In my opinion if you don't like this country and you don't want to live here and obey the laws then leave and go back to your dirt floor huts and little food. How some of these people get in to this country is beyond me.
I know of a women DR that lives in China and has worked with children all her life and is an expert in some medial fields that tried to enter the U. S. and they turned her down saying she protested against her government when she was a young girl, this woman is in her 40s and could help children here that need it, but that is the kind of people we turn down.
This part is the most saddest of all, the people that have the least respect for our Flag are the ones that are born here, what they were taught in school about the Flag has long been forgotten and they take this country for granted.  I'm sure some of their Fathers, Grandfathers  or Great Grandfathers were either in a war or in the service doing their duty.

There are a lot of people that have forgotten what the Flag really means and what it stands for and I like many Veterans think this country needs to wake up for one day it will be to late.
When the Vietnam war was going on the Veterans returning home met with some protesters and were called killers, child killers and some names I'm not going to put on this page.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion but none of us went to Vietnam on our own we went because were in the service of our country and our country was in Vietnam to stop the commie's from taking over south Vietnam, and that is another story.
Our Flag is the least important item in this country today and is evident when people spit on it and burn it and it stays up on the Flagpole until it's so torn and faded you can't see how many stripes is on it.
When you are at a parade and the Flag goes by do you put your hand over your heart? Doubt it, when at a ball game and somebody sings the National Anthem  do you put your hand over your heart because you want to and have pride in the Flag or because the people around you do? Think about it.
America needs to wake up and to get back the pride we once had and to take care of our Veterans and our people right here in America, we have one of the best countries in the free world but if we do not watch our backs something is going to happen and we won't expect it
